Project Background & Original Pain Points

A building materials company in Luohe, Henan replaced its hammer crusher with a G1208 High Pressure Grinding Roll for processing river pebbles (Mohs >7, high silica). The hammer crusher caused three major issues:

Frequent replacements: Hammers and liners failed every <150 hours, with each change taking 8 hours of downtime.

High spare parts cost: Monthly consumption exceeded RMB 40,000, making crushing cost ~40% above industry average.

Low yield & excessive fines: High-speed impact generated >20% ultrafine powder (<0.16mm), reducing effective yield and producing flaky particles.

Solution – Switching to G1208 HPGR

 After evaluation, the customer chose the G1208 HPGR. Key parameters:

Motor: Two 250 kW motors, independent dual drive.

Capacity: 300–400 t/h.

Yield: 70%–80% for river pebbles, much higher than hammer crusher.

Working principle: Interparticle compression crushing – no high-speed impact, greatly reducing over‑crushing.

  Core Advantages vs. Hammer Crusher

Longer wear life: Roll surface hardness ≥HRC60. Each roll pair lasts 2500–3000 hours for river pebbles, and can be rebuilt 2–3 times on site, reaching 8000–10,000 hours total. No more changing hammers every few days.

 Drastically reduced operating cost: Despite slightly higher installed power (2×250 kW vs 2×200 kW), energy per tonne is lower due to reduced waste and over‑crushing. With 85% less spare parts consumption, total crushing cost drops ~50%.

Good particle shape, controllable fines: HPGR produces cubical sand with flaky content <8%. Roll gap (6–20 mm) adjusts fines <0.16mm to within 10%, yield stable at 70%–80%, meeting high‑quality sand specs.

 Stable operation, low noise: Fully enclosed with spring vibration dampers and sound enclosures, dust and noise levels far superior to hammer crusher.
