Road milling material contains asphalt binder, which makes it sticky and tough after agglomeration. When processed with traditional hammer crushers or impact crushers, the following problems often arise:
Excessive fines due to crushed aggregates. Impact crushing applies intense force that easily breaks virgin aggregates, resulting in high fines content that compromises the gradation integrity and road performance of recycled aggregates.
Asphalt adhesion and clogging limit production capacity. Heat generated during crushing softens the asphalt, causing it to stick and coat the crushing chamber and screens. Frequent shutdowns for cleaning drastically reduce effective operating time.
High wear on hammers drives up maintenance costs. The impact wear parts in hammer and impact crushers wear out quickly, requiring frequent replacement. The combined cost of parts, labor, and downtime places a heavy burden on operations.
The Huashengming double-tooth roll crusher employs a low-speed shearing and crushing process, specifically designed to address these challenges and serves as the ideal choice for asphalt recycled aggregate processing.

Recycled asphalt pavement material
The double-tooth roll crusher features two rolls rotating slowly in opposite directions, with hard-alloy teeth arranged alternately on the roll surfaces. When material enters the crushing chamber, the teeth grip the milling material agglomerates and use shearing force to break apart the asphalt-bonded clusters—separating the agglomerates without damaging the virgin aggregates.
The hydraulic system allows precise adjustment of the roll gap to control output particle size, covering specifications from 5-30mm. Low-speed operation generates minimal heat, and the self-cleaning tooth design effectively reduces asphalt adhesion to the roll surfaces, ensuring long-term stable operation.
Feeding and pre-screening. Raw material is fed by the feeder into pre-screening equipment. Material that already meets size requirements is directly sorted and stored, reducing unnecessary crushing.
Primary crushing. Large agglomerates are fed into the double-tooth roll crusher for shearing. During crushing, an iron remover removes metal contaminants such as rebar ends and bolts, protecting downstream equipment.
Secondary screening and recirculation. Crushed material enters a vibrating screen for classification. Material meeting specifications is discharged and stored, while unbroken agglomerates are returned via a recirculating conveyor belt for further crushing, forming a closed-loop circuit.
The complete production line can be flexibly configured with stationary asphalt mixing plants or mobile recycling plants to suit different operational scenarios.

Recycled asphalt pavement material production site
High aggregate integrity with low fines content. The shearing process preserves the structure of virgin aggregates, producing well-shaped particles with stable gradation that meets the material standards for both hot and cold recycled pavement applications.
Anti-cling design enables continuous production. The specially engineered anti-cling tooth roll structure prevents high-temperature milling material from adhering to the rolls, allowing long hours of continuous operation with minimal cleaning interruptions.
Durable tooth blocks for easy maintenance. The rolls are equipped with modular alloy tooth blocks. When localized wear occurs, only the affected block needs replacement—not the entire roll—extending service life and reducing maintenance costs.
Hydraulic tramp iron protection. The hydraulic release system automatically adjusts the roll gap when uncrushable metal objects enter, allowing them to pass through and protecting the rolls from damage.
Adjustable output for versatile applications. The hydraulic roll gap can be adjusted with one-touch control to produce aggregates in various specifications ranging from 5-30mm, meeting the requirements for both surface and base layers in recycled pavement applications.
Energy-efficient and environmentally sound. Low-speed operation generates less noise and consumes less energy than impact-type crushers. The system can be equipped with dust collection to meet environmental production standards.
Huashengming specializes in the R&D and manufacturing of tooth roll crushers. Our double-tooth roll models have been widely used in road milling material recycling projects across various regions, serving as the core crushing equipment for asphalt pavement waste resource recovery.
