I. Customer Background and Needs
A customer operates a slag processing line, primarily tasked with crushing slag delivered from power plants for subsequent brick making and building material production. In actual production, the customer encountered two major issues: first, the slag is hard and has high moisture content, causing conventional equipment to clog frequently, and the constant shutdowns for cleaning severely impact throughput; second, the output particle size is inconsistent, failing to meet the quality requirements for building material production.
What the customer needed was a machine capable of handling both high-hardness and high-moisture slag while ensuring a uniformly fine output.
II. Spring Roll Crusher: A Stable and Reliable Choice
To address the customer’s requirements, Huashengming recommended the 2PGT 610×400 spring roll crusher.
The equipment is powered by two gear reducers and motors, providing strong and stable operation. The spring pressure system can be flexibly adjusted to accommodate the slag’s high hardness and abrasiveness, ensuring that the output is consistently controlled below 5mm with uniform particle shape. The machine features a compact structure, and its wear-resistant roller shells offer an extended service life, effectively reducing operating costs.
Huashengming roll crusher (also known as water-quenched alkaline cupola slag crusher) uses two motors to drive two roller shafts to crush and grind the material. Instead of high-speed impact, it relies on static pressure compression – two counter-rotating rollers apply continuous, uniform compressive force to the material, causing it to fracture along natural fissures. The discharge size is precisely controlled by the roll gap, producing cubic-shaped particles with good shape and low over-crushing. The roll shell service life averages over 2 years, far outperforming traditional hammer crushers that require frequent hammer replacements.

Handles both dry and wet materials without clogging. Power plant slag often contains moisture. Traditional equipment with screens is highly prone to blinding and clogging. Huashengming roll crusher adopts a screenless design, allowing material to pass directly between the two rollers regardless of moisture content. No matter how high the slag’s moisture level, the machine maintains smooth flow, ensuring continuous and stable production – completely eliminating the persistent problem of wet-material clogging.
Compression crushing, low over-crushing. Power plant slag has a complex composition, containing glassy phases, metal particles, and other hard components. Impact-type crushing tends to generate excessive fines, which reduces the efficiency of downstream sorting and building material applications. Huashengming roll crusher employs the static pressure compression principle, applying continuous uniform compressive force between the two counter-rotating rollers. The output is cubic-shaped, well-graded, and with low over-crushing, resulting in higher-quality finished products.
Precise and adjustable output size. Depending on the downstream application for the processed slag (brick making, road base, cement admixture, etc.), the roll crusher allows flexible adjustment of the roll gap via the spring pressure system or hydraulic system to precisely control the output size. In practical applications, the output can be consistently controlled below 5mm with uniform particle shape. For fine crushing applications, the output size can be adjusted between 1-3mm.

Wear-resistant roller shells, long service life. Power plant slag is highly abrasive. With conventional crushers, hammers wear out within days. Huashengming roller shells are made of high-chromium manganese steel with rare alloying elements, offering high hardness and excellent wear resistance. The average service life of the roll shell exceeds 2 years, significantly reducing downtime and labor costs associated with frequent wear-part replacements.
Low energy consumption, low operating costs. The roll crusher has a simple structure with no high-speed impact components, resulting in low vibration and noise. Its energy consumption per ton is far lower than hammer crushers. With fewer wear parts and simplified maintenance, overall operating costs are significantly reduced.
