A customer in Shandong Province is engaged in the recycling and reuse of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP). However, RAP materials are highly viscous and temperature-sensitive, causing frequent problems for traditional crushing equipment—clogging and jamming are routine, production is constantly interrupted, and efficiency simply cannot keep up. The output particle size is also inconsistent, directly affecting the stability of downstream regeneration processes and the quality of the final product. The customer tried several brands of equipment, but none of the problems were ever fully resolved—until they introduced the Huashengming 2PGC600×750 double-tooth roll crusher.

Double-tooth roll crusher crushing RAP on site
Issue #1: Frequent clogging, requiring 3–4 shutdowns per shift for cleaning
The aged asphalt binder in RAP softens and becomes sticky during crushing, coating the crushing chamber and screens. The line had to be stopped at least 3–4 times per shift, with workers using pry bars and shovels to clear the material piece by piece. Each cleanup took about half an hour, drastically cutting effective operating time and making it impossible to meet production targets.
Issue #2: Excessive fines content made recycled material hard to sell
Traditional impact crushers shatter aggregates with high-speed impact force, generating excessive fines—often over 30%. Downstream mixing plants have strict grading requirements, and material with too much fine content is simply rejected, squeezing the customer’s profit margins.
Issue #3: Hidden metal debris kept operators on edge
Reclaimed materials from old pavements often contain scrap metal such as rebar ends and bolts. Every time material was fed into the crusher, operators were worried that a piece of metal might get inside—potentially damaging the equipment and delaying the entire project.
Solution #1: Clogging became a thing of the past
The Huashengming double-tooth roll crusher uses low-speed, counter-rotating shearing action, which generates minimal friction heat and prevents asphalt from softening and becoming sticky. Combined with a specially designed tooth profile and scraper structure, material flows through smoothly. Where previously the line had to be stopped multiple times per shift for cleaning, it can now run continuously for days without interruption—entries for “shutdown for cleaning” have virtually disappeared from the operation logs.

Solution #2: Fines were reduced, making recycled material more valuable
The double-tooth roll crusher separates asphalt from aggregate through shearing and tensile forces, preserving the aggregate structure and avoiding over-crushing. Fines content dropped significantly, with more usable coarse particles in the finished product. The per-ton selling price to downstream buyers increased, and profits improved accordingly.
Solution #3: Operators gained peace of mind
The double-tooth roll crusher is equipped with an automatic tramp iron protection system. When uncrushable metal objects enter, the roll gap opens automatically to let them pass, then immediately resets to its original setting. Operators report that they no longer need to constantly watch the feed opening, and the anxiety over hidden metal debris is gone.
You can judge a machine by how it performs after a few months of operation. The customer chose Huashengming a second time—proof that this double-tooth roll crusher truly delivers. Production is stable, downtime is minimal, the material sells at a better price, and the whole operation runs more smoothly. For this RAP recycling business, the Huashengming double-tooth roll crusher has become their most reliable partner.
