How HSM custom trommel technology solved the clay-clogging problem for a mining client.

1. The Challenge

A gold mining site in Ghana struggled with raw ore that had high clay content. The clay was sticking to the ore and clogging the downstream crushers, causing frequent downtime and a 20% loss in processing efficiency. They needed a way to wash the ore and remove the fines before secondary crushing.

2. HSM Solution

HSM designed a GTS1550 Wash-Integrated Trommel Screen. Key modifications included:

Internal Spray Bars: High-pressure nozzles to thoroughly scrub the ore as it tumbled.
PU Screen Panels: Polyurethane mesh was selected for its high wear resistance and superior desliming properties.

3. The Result

Throughput:	Maintained a steady 150 m³/h
Efficiency:	Removed 98% of adhering clay/slimes
ROI:	Downtime reduced by 40%, equipment life extended
