FAQ

What is a roll crusher?

Q: What is a roll crusher?

A roll crusher is a long-established crushing device that uses two or more rollers rotating in opposite directions to crush materials through compression, shearing, and grinding. Material falls from above into the gap between the rollers, is drawn into the crushing chamber by friction, and is subjected mainly to compressive stress before being broken. The finished product is discharged from below the roller gap. The size of this gap determines the maximum particle size of the crushed product.

Roll crushers are widely used in cement, chemical, power, metallurgical, and building materials industries. They are suitable for coarse, medium, and fine crushing of materials with medium hardness or below, such as limestone, slag, coke, and coal.

Q: What are the common types of roll crushers?

According to the roll surface, they can be divided into:

Smooth roll crusher (double roll crusher): The roll surface is smooth, mostly used for processing harder materials.

Toothed roll crusher: The roll surface has grooves or teeth, mostly used for crushing brittle materials like coal and coke.

According to the number of rollers, they can be divided into:

Single roll crusher: Consists of one rotating roll and a jaw plate.

Double roll crusher (twin roll crusher): The most common type, consisting of two rollers rotating in opposite directions.

Multi-roll crusher: For example, a four-tooth roll crusher, which is actually a combination of two double-tooth roll crushers.
